Given that you can have your websites hosted for free at blogger, and wordpress, plus a bunch of other free web page hosting services, why would you want to pay for website hosting?

Well it's your call but here's one reason - Say you had built a website on free hosting over a couple of years, adding unique content on a regular basis, and had a successful website. Perhaps you spent some time looking for backlinks via article marketing, and also had other sites or blogs linking to you naturally. Now what if your free hosting was removed, for any reason, or they started to put ads on your site? Yes you could move the content elsewhere, but it's bye bye backlinks, rankings and traffic.
